  • Reverse
The upper part of the reverse features the crown of the Russian Empire. Below, on two lines, are the denomination and monetary unit: 5 КОПѢЕКЪ. Next is a divider element consisting of two elongated, oppositely directed figures with a dot between them. Below the divider is the year of mintage '1857'. Under the year is the abbreviation 'С.П.Б.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). In the left part of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and in the right part, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied with a ribbon forming a neat bow. Raised denticles are struck along the entire edge of the coin.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two coronets, and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the Moscow coat of arms, a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback spearing a dragon. Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. On the wings are the titular coats of arms: on the right – Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left – Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In the eagle's talons are a scepter and an orb. Below the talons are the initials 'Ф' and 'Б', indicating mintmaster Fedor Blum. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
