The central part of the coin features a double-headed eagle—the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads bear crowns, with a larger third crown between them. The eagle's wings are raised and its feathers are spread. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. The state emblem is surrounded by a circular inscription: '• МОНЕТА • НОВАѦ • ЦЕНА • РꙊБЛЬ • ҂АѰК •', where the letters '҂АѰК' indicate the year of minting—1720. The rim resembles a twisted cable—the traditional denticles are set at an angle to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. In the sleeve truncation are the letters 'KO', the initials of the medallist Osip Kalashnikov. A circular inscription runs along the edge: 'ЦРЬ • ПЕТРЬ • АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ • ВСЕѦ • РОСИI • САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ •'. The rim looks like a braided rope.
