In the central part — a matte image of the corner of a postal envelope with three stamps arranged in two rows. One of them — at the bottom right — is executed as a gold insert; in its upper part are two texts: on the left — 'Au 99.9', on the right — '1.55'. The other two stamps are depicted in halftone. On one of them, at the bottom left, is a two-line halftone inscription 'OVRUCHAPRDNIA 1858'. At the top is a four-line inscription '150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST RUSSIAN POSTAGE STAMP'. At the bottom is a writing pen with a steel nib.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the rim arc, is the coin's denomination 'THREE RUBLES'. Slightly below on the left is the name of the metal from Mendeleev's periodic table 'BI-METALLIC' and the fineness 925. Below, in the center, is the year of minting '2008'. Below, on the right, is the weight of the precious metal in pure form '1.55/31.10' and the manufacturer's (mint) designation 'SPMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted rim is a double-headed eagle, and below it is the name of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
