  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'A', below the left 'I'. These are the initials of mintmaster Alexander Ivanov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage — '1801'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: МОНЕТА•РУБЛЬ• The rim is decorated with dots.
  • Obverse
In the central part is a right-facing profile bust of Emperor Alexander I of original design. In the truncation of the neck is the medallist's signature 'LEBERECHT' — Karl Alexander Leberecht. In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'С П Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Around the portrait is the text: Б. М. АЛЕКСАНДРЪ I. ИМП ИСАМОД ВСЕРОСС The rim is decorated with dots.
