  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads wearing crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called surrounds the shield. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'A', below the left 'I'. These are the initials of mintmaster Alexander Ivanov. The central part is enclosed within a circular rim. Outside the rim, along the edge, is a circular inscription: above the eagle—'1802', the year of mintage. To the right of the date is a small circle with a raised dot in its center. To the left of the coat of arms is the circular inscription 'MONETA', to the right—'RUBLE', separated from each other by a small circle with a raised dot in its center. The border is decorated with dots.
  • Obverse
In the central part is a right-facing profile bust of Emperor Alexander I of original design. In the truncation of the neck is the signature of the medalist 'LEBERECHT'—Karl Alexander Leberecht. In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Around the portrait is the inscription: B. M. ALEXANDER I. IMP I SAMOD VSEROSS. The border is decorated with dots.
