    Along the edge of the coin, Latin inscriptions in arcs: left 'UTILITATI', right 'PUBLICAE', translating to 'PUBLIC UTILITY', separated at the top by three raised floral elements. Below, the number 20, flanked on both sides by raised eight-petaled flowers. In the central part of the reverse, a raised depiction of a crown within a wreath formed by a single olive branch with a bow at its base.
  • Obverse
    Along the edge of the coin in an arc on the left, bottom, and right, a Latin inscription 'MARIA II D G PORT ET ALG REGINA', translating to 'Maria II by the Grace of God Queen of Portugal and the Algarves'. In the central part, the lesser coat of arms of Portugal crowned with an imperial crown: on the escutcheon, five escutcheons in the form of a cross, each with bezants, surrounded by a wide bordure with seven castles. The large shield separates the mint year '18 33'.
