In the central part, the coat of arms of Ecuador is depicted. To the left, top, and right along the rim is the country name Republic of Ecuador in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR'. In the lower part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the year of mintage 1909. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
