    Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, is a Latin inscription 'PORTUGALIAE ET ALGARBIORUM REGINA', translating to 'Queen of Portugal and the Algarves'; below is the mint year '1841', flanked on both sides by raised four-petal flowers. The central field features the Roman numeral 10 'X' within a wreath formed by olive and oak branches, tied at the base with a bow.

    The coin's edge is decorated with raised denticles. Along the edge in the right, bottom, and left sections is a Latin inscription 'MARIA II DEI GRATIA', translating to 'Maria II by the Grace of God', with all words separated by raised quatrefoil elements. The central field depicts the lesser coat of arms of Portugal crowned with an imperial crown: the heraldic shield features five escutcheons arranged in a cross, each with bezants, surrounded by a wide bordure with seven castles. The heraldic shield is framed by raised linear patterns.
