On either side of the image are horizontal inscriptions in English: on the left, a two-line inscription - '1 CROWN', and on the right, the plant's name 'SWEET PEA'.
  • Obverse
Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'; below the truncation, the Latin letters 'PM' - the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the circumference along the rim are inscriptions in English: on the left, the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right, the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1998'. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
