    In the central part, surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel leaves, are depicted: the fraction 1/4 – 1/4 (real) and an open book. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is an inscription in Spanish: «ESTADO LIBRE DE SAN LUIS POTOSI.», translated as: «Free State of San Luis Potosí». Along the lower edge, separated from the inscription by a five-pointed star, is the year of mintage 1862. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is a depiction of the seated goddess Liberty facing front, holding a liberty cap on a spear in her right hand. To her left is a cactus. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is text in Spanish: «REPUBLICA MEXICANA.», translated as: «Mexican Republic». The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
