  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year '•1779•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, the text reads: MON•TSENA•RUBL'. The edge is decorated with denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Empress Catherine II. Around the portrait, the text reads: B•M•EKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS•. The edge is decorated with denticles.
