    In the central part is a portrait of the young Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. Below the portrait is a three-line inscription with his name: 'TARAS SHEVCHENKO' and his lifespan 1814-1861. In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is a text in Ukrainian: 'SVOIU UKRAINU LIUBYT...', which translates to 'He loves his Ukraine...'. The portrait is framed on the sides by a floral ornament.

    In the central part, within a smaller diameter circle against a wall with a floral ornament, two women in national costumes are depicted; one holds a palette and brushes, the second holds a quill and an open book. Below them is a line, and under the line is the year of mintage 2014. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in Ukrainian: on the left, top, and right, separated by the Coat of Arms of Ukraine: 'NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE'; below, along the rim, is a two-line inscription: 'FIVE HRYVNIAS' - 5 hryvnias.
