    In the central part, a left-facing portrait of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon wearing a tiara. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER', at the bottom '1900 TO CELEBRATE A LIFE 2002'.
  • Obverse
    At the top, the state name in English 'ZAMBIA', at the bottom the inscription '1000 KWACHA'. In the upper part is the right-facing profile of Elizabeth II wearing a crown. Below the monarch's neck truncation is the sculptor's initials 'IRB' - Ian Rank-Broadley. In the lower part is the state coat of arms, featuring a shield with six wavy vertical stripes, above it crossed hoe and pickaxe, and above that an eagle looking backwards. The shield is held by a man on the right and a woman on the left, standing on a grassy field. At the base of the arms is the motto 'One Zambia One Nation'.
