Obverse
In the central part, the coat of arms of Ecuador is depicted. To the left, above, and to the right along the rim is the country's name, Republic of Ecuador, in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR'. In the lower part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the year of issue, 1890. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
