Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is an inscription in Spanish: «ESTADO LIBRE Y SOBERANO DE S.L.POTOSI», which translates to: «Free and Sovereign State of San Luis Potosí». Along the lower edge, separated by two six-petaled flowers, is the mint year 1867. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
