Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. Along the upper arc is the English name of the country, British Honduras: 'BRITISH HONDURAS'. At the bottom is the inscription 'ONE CENT 1944', meaning 'one cent, year of issue 1944'. The inscriptions on the left and right are separated by two raised dots. In the central part, a wreath frames the numeral 1.
Obverse
Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised denticles. Along the arc of the coin's edge is the English text 'GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA', meaning 'George VI King and Emperor of India'. In the central part is a left-facing profile portrait of George VI. Below the neck truncation are the letters 'PM' — the engraver's mark for Percy Metcalfe.
