In the central part, surrounded by a laurel wreath, an inscription in Spanish in three lines: "UN CENTAVO. 1863." - 1 centavo and the mintage year 1863. Along the arc of the lower edge is the Mexico City mint mark. The edge of the coin features a decorative raised pattern of notches.
Obverse
In the central part, the goddess Liberty is depicted seated on a throne, facing right. Below her is an inscription in Spanish: "PAREDES", meaning "Walls". To the left and right along the rim, framed by dots, is an inscription in Spanish: "LIBERTAD Y REFORMA", which translates to "Liberty and Reform". The edge of the coin features a decorative raised pattern of notches.
