The central part features a double portrait facing left – Prince Albert on the left, Elizabeth on the right. Below the image is the English text 'ROYAL ENGAGEMENT 1923'. Around the circumference along the rim are inscriptions in English: at the top - 'THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE QUEEN MOTHER', flanked on both sides by a bow, at the bottom in two lines - '1 CROWN'.
Obverse
Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM', below the truncation the Latin letters 'PM' - the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the circumference along the rim are inscriptions in English: on the left the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1999'. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
