Obverse In the central part is the number 80 in Roman numerals: "LXXX". Above it is a crown, below - the year of minting: "1818". To the right, bottom, and left along the edge is a Latin text: "JOANNES.D.G.P.ET.BRASILIÆ.P.REGENS" - "JOÃO BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING OF PORTUGAL AND REGENT OF BRAZIL". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the edges of the rim.
