In the central part, a photographic portrait of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon seated on the throne, holding symbols of power. Above the image, the centenary years '1900-2000', below it the inscription 'CORONATION 1937'. Inscriptions at the top 'HM QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER', at the bottom 'A COMMONWEALTH NATION PAYS TRIBUTE'. All inscriptions are in English. The coin's edge features dot-like elements.

At the top, the state name in English 'ZAMBIA', at the bottom the inscription '1000 KWACHA'. In the upper part, the right-facing profile of Elizabeth II wearing a crown. Below the neck truncation of the monarch is the sculptor's initials 'IRB' - Ian Rank-Broadley. In the central part, the year of issue split into two parts: left '20', right '00' (2000). In the lower part, the state coat of arms, consisting of a shield with six wavy vertical stripes, above it crossed hoe and pickaxe, and above that an eagle looking backwards. The shield is held by a man on the right and a woman on the left, standing on a grassy field. At the base of the coat of arms is the motto 'One Zambia One Nation'. The coin's edge features dot-like elements.
