At the top, the name of the state in English 'ZAMBIA', at the bottom an inscription in two lines '2000 KWACHA'. In the central part, the state coat of arms, consisting of a shield with six wavy vertical stripes, above it crossed a hoe and a pickaxe, and above that a fish eagle. The shield is held by a man on the right and a woman on the left, standing on grassy ground. At the base of the coat of arms, the motto 'One Zambia One Nation'. On either side of the coat of arms, the digits of the issue year '1994' split into two parts: '19' on the left, '94' on the right. Around the edge of the coin, elements in the form of dots.
