    In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a sandy mole rat sitting on sand against a background of a plant bush and a night sky. Along the upper edge arc is its name in Ukrainian: «СЛIПАК ПIЩАНИЙ», and on the left, bottom, and right in Latin: «SPALAX ARENARIUS RESHETNIK», which translates as: 'Sandy Mole Rat'.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is the country name in Ukrainian: «УКРАЇНА». Above it is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine. Below it, a three-line semicircular inscription: «2 ГРИВНI» - 2 (two) hryvnias and the mintage year 2005. In the lower part along the coin's edge arc is the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint. The coin's rim features a decorative wreath element incorporating various representatives of flora and fauna.
