    In the center is a hole, surrounded by a Star of David. To the left, top, and right along the rim is the English inscription: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Along the lower edge is the year of issue 1937, separated from the inscription by dots. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of denticles.

    To the left and right along the edge is the text 'GEORGIVS VI REX ET IND: IMP:' (George VI King and Emperor of India). In the center is a hole, to the left, top, and right of which is the inscription: 'ONE HALFPENNY'. Above the inscription is a crown, with two decorative plant-themed elements on the sides. Below the hole is the mint mark 'H' for the Heaton Mint in Birmingham (UK) and the inscription ½ penny in Arabic: 'نُصْف پَنّي.'. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
