    In the central part, surrounded by a wreath, is the numeral 5. Below the numeral is the letter 'A' - the mint mark of the Paris Mint. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is an inscription in Spanish: 'CINCO CENTESIMOS DE FRANCO' - five centesimos. Below, along the rim, is a five-pointed star. To the left of the star is a cornucopia, to the right is a symbol of authority (a fasces with an axe). The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.

    In the central part is the coat of arms of the Dominican Republic. On the ribbon in the lower part of the coat of arms is an inscription in Spanish: 'DIOS PATRIA LIBERTAD', translated: 'God. Fatherland. Liberty'. To the left, top, and right along the rim is the country name in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DOMINICANA'. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, separated by two five-pointed stars, is the year of issue 1891. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
