In the central part, the numeral: 1 framed by rosettes. Below it, the text in Norwegian is struck: 'SKILLING SPECIES' - skilling and the year of minting: 1816. At the bottom near the rim is the mintmark of the Kongsberg mint - crossed hammer and pickaxe. Along the edge of the coin is a toothed relief pattern.
Obverse
In the central part, the coat of arms of Norway. To the left and right of it are the abbreviations: 'CL' and 'XIII.' respectively, which from Norwegian stands for: Karl XIII. Around the edge of the coin are relief elements executed in the form of teeth.
