Reverse

In the central part, a frontal portrait of archaeologist Vikentiy Khvoyka. To the left and right, his name in Ukrainian: «ВIКЕНТIЙ ХВОЙКА». Along the arc of the lower edge, his life years: 1850-1914. The coin's edge features a decorative element in the form of a curling ribbon.

The field is crossed by five solid (in the center) and two broken (closer to the rim) circles. In the central part is the coat of arms of Ukraine. Above it, the year of mintage 2000. To the right and left of the coat of arms, superimposed on the circles, are ancient vessels; below the coat of arms is a female figurine. Interrupting the outer circles in a semicircle are inscriptions in Ukrainian: at the top, the country name: «УКРАЇНА»; at the bottom: «дві гривні» - 2 hryvnias; to the left and right are two circles crossed by crosses. The coin's edge features a decorative element in the form of a curling ribbon.
