    In the central part, a frontal portrait of Pope John Paul II. Along the upper edge arc, his name before enthronement in Polish: "KAROL WOJTYLA". Along the lower edge arc, the years 1967-1978, with the Catalan inscription "KARDENAL" (meaning "Cardinal") between them, separated from the numbers by dots.

    In the central part, within a circle of smaller diameter, the coat of arms of Andorra. Below it, the numeral "50" and the inscription "ct.", meaning 50 centimes. To the left, top, and right along the edge, the Catalan inscription: "PRINCIPAT D'ANDORRA", which translates as "Principality of Andorra". In the lower part, along the edge arc of the coin, the mint year 2005.
