    The central part features the coat of arms of Denmark. To its left is the numeral 2, and to its right the letter 'S.' - for 2 Skilling. Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, is an inscription in Danish: 'DANIÆ NORVEGIÆ VAN.GOTH.REX.', denoting the title of the King of Denmark and Norway. Below the inscription is the mint year 1809 with a dot. The edge of the coin is decorated with dentils.

    The central part features the right-facing profile of King Frederik VI. To the left, above, and to the right along the rim is the king's name in Danish: 'FRIDERICUS VI DEI GRATIA' with the suffix 'Gracious'. The edge of the coin is decorated with dentils.
