Obverse In the central part is the Roman numeral 10: "X", above it is a crown, below - the year of minting: "1781". To the right, bottom, and left along the edge is text in Latin: "MARIA.I.E.PETRUS.III..D.G.P.E.BRASIL.REGES" - "MARIA I AND PEDRO III BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING AND QUEEN OF PORTUGAL AND BRAZIL". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
