In the left field, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the country name in English 'NEW ZEALAND'; on the right is 'ELIZABETH II'. Below is the year of issue '2001'. In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II. The initials 'IRB' below the neck truncation are the mark of engraver Ian Rank-Broadley.
