Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'. Below the truncation are the Latin letters 'PM' - the mint mark of Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the perimeter along the rim are English inscriptions: on the left, the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II'; on the right, the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1991'. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
