  • Reverse
In the upper part of the reverse is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below it, the denomination and monetary unit are indicated on two lines: 25 KOPĒEKЪ. Next is a divider element consisting of two oppositely directed lines with a bordered dot between them. Slightly below the decorative divider is the coin's year of minting '1849', beneath which is the abbreviation 'S.P.B.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). In the left part of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and in the right part, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow. Raised denticles are minted around the entire edge of the coin.
  • Obverse
In the central part is the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two coronets, a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. On the wings are the titular coats of arms: on the right — Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left — Polish, Taurian, and Finnish. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left — an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'P', under the left — the letter 'A'. The initials of mintmaster Pavel Alekseev. The center of the obverse is enclosed within a braided rim. In the upper part is an eight-petaled flower, visually indicating the start of the inscription: CHISTAGO SEREBRA 1 ZOLOTNIK 5 1/4 DOLĒĪ. The rim is decorated with short denticles.
