    In the central part, two Common Eiders are depicted facing left: one on the water, the second standing on a rock protruding from the water. On the rock are the Latin letters 'MH' - the artist's mark of Mark Hobson. To the right of the image, the mint year '2008' is placed horizontally. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top the country name 'CANADA', at the bottom the inscription 'DOLLAR'.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. In the truncation of the portrait are the Latin letters 'SB' - the artist's mark of Susanna Blunt. To the right and left of the portrait, the Latin inscription is split into two parts: on the right - 'ELIZABETH II', on the left - 'D∙ G∙ REGINA' (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen). Below is the mint mark – a stylized maple leaf within a circle. A decorative beaded border runs along the rim.
