Two laurel branches are depicted along the arcs of the left and right edges of the coin; they cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow. In the central part, there is a three-line inscription in Arabic: "مدة محمد الصادق بتونس" - "MOHAMMED AL-SADEK KING OF TUNISIA". Below it is the minting year: "١٢٨٩" - 1289 AH (Hijri year) or 1872 AD (Gregorian). Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.

In the central part, a flower is depicted with the numeral 1 inside it: "١". To the left and right along the rim are two laurel branches, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
