    Within a circular border filled with printing characters, a cameo on the right features a portrait of Bi Sheng, the inventor of movable type printing. Below the portrait is his name in Chinese characters "畢昇" and in English "Pi Sheng". Vertically to the right is the English text "AD 1041 FIRST MOVABLE TYPE". Along the rim in English: at the top "INVENTIONS OF THE MODERN WORLD", at the bottom in two lines "1 CROWN".
  • Obverse
    At the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - "RDM". Below the truncation are the Latin letters "PM" - the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, UK. Around the circumference along the rim are inscriptions in English: on the left the monarch's name "ELIZABETH II", on the right the name of the British Crown Dependency "ISLE OF MAN" and the year of issue "1995". The rim features decorative raised denticles.
