    Closer to the left edge of the coin is a right-facing portrait of Leonardo da Vinci; to the right are flying machines he designed: a helicopter and an ornithopter. Above the image, the person's name is inscribed horizontally in two lines in English: 'LEONARDO DA VINCI'. Along the edge arc are inscriptions in English: at the top 'MAN IN FLIGHT', and at the bottom in two lines - '1 CROWN'.

    Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'; below the truncation are the Latin letters 'PM' - the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the circumference along the rim are inscriptions in English: on the left the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1994'. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
