Reverse The central part of the reverse features a relief image of the Liberty Cap, with rays emanating from it. Along the lower edge arc, flanked by two six-petaled flowers, is the year of issue 1829.
Obverse The central part depicts the seated goddess Liberty facing left. Along the edge of the coin from left to right runs the Spanish text: 'Estado Libre de Guanajuato', which translates to 'Free State of Guanajuato'. In the lower part along the coin's edge, separated by six-petaled flowers, is the inscription in Spanish: 'UN OCTAVO' - one eighth (1/8 real).
