    Along the upper edge of the coin, the English inscription: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Below, the year of issue '1942' is flanked on both sides by raised dot elements. The central part of the reverse features a raised hexagram design.

    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised denticles. On the left, along the edge, the Latin inscription 'GEORGIVS VI'; on the right, 'REX ET IND: IMP:', translating to 'George VI King and Emperor of India'. In the central upper part is a crown, the symbol of British rulers. Below it, encircling the hole, the inscription 'ONE TENTH OF A PENNY'. At the bottom, the denomination is indicated in Arabic: 'عُشر بنس واحد'.
