The upper part of the coin features the imperial crown. Below it, a four-line inscription reads: ЧИСТАГО СЕРЕБРА 4 ЗОЛОТН. 21 ДОЛЯ (Pure Silver 4 Zolotniks 21 Dolya). Beneath this is a straight line and the designation 'С.П.Б.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the rim on the left is a laurel branch, and on the right an oak branch. The branches are tied together at the bottom with a ribbon. The edge of the coin is stamped with relief denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the lesser coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread. The eagle's heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'П', under the left 'С'—the initials of mintmaster Pavel Stupitsyn. To the left of the coat of arms is the circular inscription 'МОНЕТА' (COIN), to the right 'РУБЛЬ' (RUBLE). Below the initials is the year of mintage '1814'. The inscriptions are separated from each other by three six-pointed stars. The rim is decorated with short denticles pointing towards the center.
