    In the central part, within an oval, are two hands, one holding a hammer, the other a chisel. Above the oval, radiating light, is the cap of the Goddess of Liberty. Below the oval, a semi-circular Latin inscription: 'OMNIA VINCIT LABOR', translating to 'Labor conquers all'. Beneath the inscription is a laurel wreath. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of horizontal dashes.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is the coat of arms of Mexico. Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, is the Spanish text: 'Est: Lib: de Guanajuato' (full name: Estado Libre de Guanajuato), which translates to 'Free State of Guanajuato', and the mint year 1856. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin and separated by two five-petaled flowers, is the Spanish inscription: 'QUARTILLA' - 1/4 (real). The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of horizontal dashes.
