    In the central part, an elephant is depicted walking left, standing on grass, with the year of issue '1815' below. Above the image, inscriptions in English: along the rim the name of the colony 'CEYLON', below horizontally in two lines - 'ONE HALF STIVER'.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of the King of Great Britain wearing a laurel wreath. Around the edge of the coin is a Latin inscription 'GEORGIUS III D:G: BRITANNIARUM REX' (George III by the Grace of God King of the Britains).
