    Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top 'FIRST MEN ON THE MOON'; at the bottom 'FIVE DOLLARS'; on the left '1969' - the year of the moon landing; on the right '1994' - the year of the 25th anniversary of the commemorative date and the year of issue. In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of an astronaut planting the American flag on the Moon. In the background are the lunar lander, a second astronaut giving a military salute, and the planet Earth in the sky. To the right of the second astronaut is the 'R' mint mark of the Rhode Island mint.

    In the central part is depicted the coat of arms of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, which is a round disc with an angel framed by two interlocking chains. Along the outer edge of the disc at the top is the name of the state in English 'REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS', at the bottom - the motto in Marshallese 'JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN', translated as 'Accomplishment Through Joint Effort'. From the angel's head, two rays extend upwards, between which is a twenty-four-pointed star. Above the angel's wings, on the right is a fishing net, on the left - a shell tool. Below the wings: on the right - a canoe, on the left - coconut palms. Below the angel is an image of a traditional Marshallese navigation chart in perspective, below it an inscription on a ribbon 'Seal'. Below the outer chain, to the left of the disc, is the sign $5 - 'five dollars', to the right - the year of mintage '1994'.
