In the central part, an elephant is depicted walking left, standing on grass, with the year of issue '1815' below. Above the image, the inscription along the rim in English reads the colony's name 'CEYLON', and below horizontally - 'ONE STIVER'.
Obverse
In the center is the right-facing profile of the King of Great Britain wearing a laurel wreath. Around the edge of the coin is the Latin inscription 'GEORGIUS III D:G: BRITANNIARUM REX' (George III by the Grace of God King of the Britains).
