A horizon line at the top with the sun in clouds above it. Below the line, a river extends across the field as a wavy line, with the sun reflected in its waters. A pine tree is depicted on the left bank. To the right near the rim is the Latin letter 'P' - the mark of the artist Reijo Paavilainen.
Obverse
Depicts leaves and blooming water lily flowers. Above is the numeral '5', with the inscription 'EURO' vertically along its right side. To the right near the rim is the mint year '2013' horizontally, above it a heraldic lion within a circle - the mintmark of the Finnish Mint. Along the bottom rim is the country name 'Finland' in two languages: Finnish 'SUOMI' and Swedish 'FINLAND'.
