In the central part, within a circle of smaller diameter, a scene from the Russian Civil War is depicted: on the left, a formation of White Guard soldiers; on the right, attacking Red cavalry against the background of an outstretched arm. To the right and along the top rim, an inscription in Ukrainian: «80-РИЧЧЯ БОЮ НIД КРУТАМИ» (80th Anniversary of the Battle of Kruty). Along the lower edge arc, separated by a circle intersected by a diagonal cross, the date 29.01.1918.
Obverse
In the central part, two circles of different diameters are drawn, overlaid with an image of a column of soldiers marching away into the distance along a road. To the left and right of the column, on horizontal segments crossing the circles, are the years: 1918-1998. The Coat of Arms of Ukraine is superimposed on the design. Below the coat of arms, an incused inscription in two lines in a semicircle: «2 гривні» - 2 Hryvnias. In the upper part, along the rim of the coin, the country name in Ukrainian: «УКРАЇНА».
