    In the central part is an ear of corn, to the left of which is the numeral "50", to the right the denomination in English - "FIFTY NGWEE". Along the upper edge of the coin is the English inscription: "GROW MORE FOOD", and along the lower edge - "FOR MANKIND", which translates as: "GROW MORE FOOD FOR MANKIND".

    The edge is shaped as a regular dodecagon. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the country name in English: "ZAMBIA"; below is the year of issue: 1972. In the central part is depicted the right-facing profile of President Kenneth David Buchizya Kaunda.
