Reverse
In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a rhinoceros facing right. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the English text: «RHINOCEROS». To its left, the same inscription in Chinese, consisting of two characters arranged vertically. Along the lower edge is the inscription: «$5» - five dollars.
Obverse
In the central part is the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia. To its left is the number «19», to the right «97» - the year of mintage 1997. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the name of the country in English: «REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA». In the lower part, along the edge of the coin and separated by dots, is the English inscription: «5 DOLLARS» - five dollars. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
