    In the central part, the denomination '5F.' in French. Between the letter and the number is an image of a sawfish. Along the upper edge arc the French inscriptions: 'BANQUE CENTRALE' - 'CENTRAL BANK', and along the lower edge: 'ÉTATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST' - 'WEST AFRICAN STATES'.

    In the central part, a facing head of a Grant's gazelle. Below is the year of issue: '1969'. Along the upper edge are depicted grape clusters on vine branches. At the bottom left and right are ears of corn. Below them on the left: 'G.B.L. BAZOR' - the designer's mark of Lucien Georges Bazor.
