Along the upper edge of the coin, an inscription in Spanish from left to right: "REYNA DE ESPAÑA Y DE LAS INDIAS" - "Queen of Spain and of the Indies". The central part features the lesser coat of arms of the Kingdom of Spain - a cross, with two lions and two castles in its quarters. Below - the numeral: "4" and the mint mark of Madrid: "M". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, text in Spanish: "ISABEL 2A POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS" - "Isabella 2nd by the Grace of God". The central part features the right-facing profile of Queen Isabella II. Below - the year of minting: "1836". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
