The central part features the denomination "MONETA POLTINA" in two lines. Above the denomination is the Crown of the Russian Empire. Below the denomination is a decorative divider consisting of two oppositely directed ornamental lines with a small circle between them, featuring a raised dot in its center. Below the divider is the year of mintage "1857". Below the year is the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. The branches are tied together at the base with a ribbon forming a neat bow. The entire edge of the coin is stamped with protruding denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two coronets, and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the Moscow coat of arms, a shield depicting St. George the Victorious slaying a dragon with a spear. Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. On the wings are the titular coats of arms: on the right – Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left – Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left – an orb. Below the right talon is the letter "F", below the left – the letter "B". These are the initials of mintmaster Fedor Blum. The center of the obverse is enclosed within a braided border. At the top is an eight-petaled flower, visually indicating the start of the inscription: CHISTAGO SEREBRA 2 ZOLOTNIKA 10 1/2 DOLY (Pure Silver 2 Zolotniks 10 1/2 Dolya). The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
